Sonel Mehta
Professional Trustee
I am a professional trustee at Law Debenture with a background in risk management and actuarial consulting in both public and private sectors.
As well as being a trustee of several schemes at Law Debenture, I am part of the Corporate Sole Trustee team, sit on delegated committees, and hold the role of peer trustee. I also chair the Audit and Risk Committee for a multi-billion pound scheme in the aviation industry.
Prior to joining Law Debenture I spent two years as a company-nominated pension scheme trustee of a hybrid scheme, sitting on its Administration and Risk, and Member Communications committees. I was also a voting member of steering committees, forums, and working groups, the first point of contact for schemes involved in TUPE transfers, and has headed up the actuarial resourcing team.
I have GARP qualifications in Sustainability, Climate and Risk (SCR) and Financial Risk Management (FRM), and qualified as an Associate of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries.
Further to my professional career, I am a founding trustee of a UK-based human rights charity, have spoken on panels in Parliament and at events for legal bodies and community groups, and am a published author, including co-authoring a paper on State Pension Age for the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries.
In my leisure time, I enjoy playing bridge, backgammon, and learning Korean.
