Peter White
Trustee Director
Peter brings a unique combination of skills and knowledge to Law Deb, due to his previous roles in the pensions industry over 30 years. The depth and breadth of his technical pensions knowledge combined with outstanding commercial and leadership experience means he is ideally suited to being a professional trustee and leader of Law Deb’s pension proposition in the north.
Peter currently represents Law Debenture on 4 schemes ranging in size between £90m and £300m. He is chair of 1 of these schemes, co-trustee on 2 and sole trustee on the other. He is also peer trustee director on a further 5 Law Deb schemes ranging in size between £300m to £4Bn.
He spent the last 15 years of his professional career as a pensions lawyer with Pinsent Masons based in Manchester. He has advised trustees and employers at all stages of their pension scheme’s journey and has particular expertise with schemes in their ‘final straight’ including buy ins and buy outs.
Before qualifying as a pensions lawyer, Peter was a senior manager with the Prudential. His roles included responsibility for the distribution, marketing, technical, administration and regulatory aspects of Prudential’s pensions products in the teams which he led.
He has deep experience chairing meetings, leading teams, building consensus, dealing with conflict and ensuring meetings achieve their objective.
He is former chair of the NAPF/PLSA North West.
He has significant experience of being a trustee outside of work with two organisations - one is a multi academy trust based in Bolton and the other is an organisation in the Church of England dedicated to areas where the church finds it hard to connect – typically in some of the north west’s most deprived areas. He was also chair and non-executive director of an organisation funded by the UK Film Council which sought to attract people to the film industry.
