Daniel Barlow

Director

Daniel is a qualified solicitor, former general counsel and accredited member of the Association of Professional Pension Trustees. He represents Law Debenture as chair of trustees, co-trustee and corporate sole trustee on a variety of pension schemes with assets ranging in size from £10m to >£2bn.

Daniel adopts an objectives-led and strategic approach to pension scheme governance and has a track record of driving major improvements in governance structures. He leads multi-disciplinary teams in delivering major transactions and projects, including risk transfer, contingent security and member option exercises. He is a confident communicator at board level and builds constructive working relationships with sponsors and other stakeholders. He has a collaborative and yet commercial approach to managing advisers and suppliers.

Daniel joined LawDeb from PwC where he was Head of Trustee Services from 2013 to 2019 with responsibility for managing the firm’s two DB Schemes. He was a member of PwC’s DC governance committee. Prior to PwC, Daniel was Company Secretary and Chief Legal Adviser for Tata Global Beverages where he became a company-appointed trustee of the Tetley GB Final Salary Scheme and was twice elected as a member representative of Tata’s DC steering committee.

Daniel is a member of the Council of the Society of Pension Professionals, the Advisory Panel of the PensionsChair Network and the Advisory Council of trustee liability insurer, OPDU.

Daniel acts as trustee of the charitable company, St. John’s Downshire Hill.
