Soft skills for Governance professionals: panel event
On Wednesday evening, The Law Debenture Group and the Women's Chartered Governance Association (WCGA) came together to host a soft skills panel discussion on "Overcoming Self-Doubt & Embracing Confidence."
Chelsea Chivers, Head of UK Entity Management, chaired our panel of distinguished speakers:
- Luisa Baldini, Co-founder of Composure Media;
- Jackline Ryland MSc FCG, Company Secretary at the BBC; and
- Denis Jackson, CEO of LawDeb.
The panel discussed the importance of creating a supportive environment, recognizing and combating negative self-talk, and understanding personal triggers for self-doubt to build resilience.
Luisa emphasized the value of a well-crafted elevator pitch, explaining that clearly communicating who you are and what you offer not only enhances your credibility but also boosts your confidence. Jackline highlighted that credibility, especially in the early stages of a career, is built not only on subject matter expertise but also on consistency and reliability. Finally, Denis underscored the crucial role of governance professionals within a company, encouraging attendees to embrace challenges and build confidence through action and results.
