Companies House delays ACSP launch
This morning Companies House announced that tomorrow’s launch of their service to register as an authorised corporate service provider (ACSP) has been postponed. No new date has been given with guidance being to keep checking their website.
Ben Turner, Managing Director of CSS at LawDeb, commented: “The delay to the Companies House authorised corporate service providers (ACSP) registration service will only add to the ongoing uncertainty felt by firms across the country ahead of the looming Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Act (ECCTA) deadlines.
“ID verification could prove to be a sticking point for many firms - especially those who have a large number of directors. Getting each and every one verified is no mean feat and could easily fall by the wayside, especially for large businesses. With the ‘Autumn’ deadline as of yet unchanged, the walls are closing on the time available to ensure compliance.
“With over 7 million directors of limited companies registered in the UK alone, clarity is urgently needed to provide certainty and ensure that businesses aren’t caught in the compliance trap, especially as this is one of several successive pieces of regulation comprising the ECCTA.”
