Colleagues from Law Debenture and Janus Henderson Investors got together last week to talk shop (and more). It was a pleasure to be invited to hear from those who support our Janus Henderson portfolio managers James Henderson and Laura Foll in delivering results for our shareholders.
From idea generation to ESG, from risk to the trades themselves the team at Janus Henderson clearly have great working relationships with the right balance of challenge and pragmatism.
Equally, this session was a good chance to showcase the unique Law Debenture proposition to our Janus Henderson peers. LawDeb attendees came mainly from our Independent Professional Services business, which offers in-built diversification to our shareholders and is unique in the market. As well as contributing to the NAV, the valuable insights available by virtue of supporting organisations of every size, from every sector, proved interesting to the Janus Henderson team.
Our relationship is not just related to the investment portfolio. There are myriad ways in which our two businesses intertwine. Pensions is a great example of this. Our pension trustee team work closely with Emma Sinnamon who organised a recent pension investment event in Manchester at which LawDeb Trustee Directors Peter White and Samantha Pitt were pleased to take to the stage. The work we do across our IPS business, for example around whistleblowing and investigations and escrows are also relevant for the Janus Henderson business.
The session, and the drinks that followed, were interesting and enjoyable with plans already being made to repeat it for even more team members to attend.
A huge thanks to Emma Sinnamon, Hayley Farman and Charley Smith, CFA for organising and to Olivia Vernall, Barney Pink, Andres Galdo, Faizan Baig, CFA and Nick Adams for sharing their expertise.
